Insecurity

The solution is to stay simple, or rather… Choosing to stay simple.

Simple =/= Easy

Being simple does not mean that it is easy. It is a decision to make everyday.

Being grateful helps us to stay simple. We stop thinking of what we don’t have… and see more good than bad in others.

The truth is that… everyone has a bad in them. No one is perfect. But we choose what we want to focus on. Focusing on people’s flaws unobjectively makes you disillusioned.

It is a decision to be grateful. It is not a feeling. If gratefulness is a feeling, Everything to you will feel more like an ‘entitlement”.

Gratefulness is not an emotion… it should be a CHARACTER. You wake up and you decide to be grateful even though you don’t ‘feel’ like it.

If gratefulness is a character… everything that happens to you will not be an “entitlement”, but a “privilege”… things may not be ok now. But as long as you are grateful, and wants to be rectified in your thoughts and feelings… you will start to be joyful again.

Keep being simple and pure!                 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

It is a privilege to even know God in HOGC. To have first stepped in here as a youth. To be taught skills I never had. To have encountered God in this place when I was a lost JC student. It is a privilege to be able to serve God like this. To have gone for Mission trips, ovs with pastors. To have my leaders speaking into my life countless times. Thank you God…

Generousity through the Generations

We need to have an understanding of the generations

We need to understand how God move through the generations

Deuteronomy 7:9

Most of us are 1st Generation Christians. And this means we can have the opportunity to start a whole new spiritual heritage.

From my generation it can be different.

Proverbs 13:22

Inheritance vs Wealth. God didn’t say a good man leaves wealth to his children’s children . He said “inheritance”! This means that an inheritance is much more than just wealth.

God is interested in the transformation not just in our own personal lives but in a generation

I need to rise up to lead. And not take a back seat

God sees and think in terms of generations

Psalm 112:1-4 (NLT) – good deeds, the serving God, compassion, generosity….

Generations and Generousity – both share the same root word – GENE. We can pass it down…

We need to understand the privilege of what it means to be a 1st generation of Christian

WE ARE STARTING A NEW HERITAGE OF GENEROUSITY

Psalm 145:4

Why is generosity important?
Generousity is on the heart of God

John 3:16

Matthew 10:8

as you began to be thankful for what God has given to us… you will freely give.

Generosity is for our Good

Generosity is not what God wants FROM us, it is what He wants for us.

Garrett and Ethan example: not “I want to see them live in lack and suffer…”

God is a generous and loving father

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV) – verse 25

Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

How to stay fresh, how to increase my emotional and heart capacity – keep giving.

1 Timothy 6:10 – “The love of money”

We want to breaks the love of money

generousity breaks he hold of materialism and the love for money.

1 Timothy 6:10

Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 (TLB)

The problem is not the amount of money you have but it is the love for money

How does generousity becomes generational?

A) you can only impart what you have.

I want to make sure that my walk is right so my Son will also walk right

If we want the newer people coming in to be more generous is we are not generous.

The greatest teaching is our testimony. The greatest education is our examples

B) you can only pass down what you own

I can only pass down what I belong too

How can we own something

– only if you have paid for it

HOGC can only belong to us only if we pay the full price for it.

I serve God and I love God. And I give to every building fund…

This is my spiritual DNA

Sang this when I was 9. 🙂

I want to know You Lord
You are a great big God
I’m young and do not know a lot
Come and be my all
I want to Love You more
Giving you my life and all
You die for me you’ve sacrificed.
I won’t forget You Lord

I love You Jesus
I will grow up knowing you
I love You Jesus
I will grow up serving you
I love You Jesus
My life is saved by you

I will never forget never forget,
I will grow up knowing you

Feeling a little tired BUT

Nehemiah 8:10 (ESV)
…the joy of the Lord is your strength. 🙂
Amen!

Sermon notes:

Honour is the key to curb insecurity.
You need humility to honour.
When you honour, you take away the need to be ‘honoured’.

Your best way to have courage is to be… vulnerable.
Vulnerability includes some sort of a sacrifice.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear… but of power and love and a sound mind.”
Insecurity is a form of fear. How do we tap on the power of love?
If you are feeling insecure, you may need to turn up the honouring knob. Keep loving!
People who feel victimised, who  constantly demand their rights – they need to learn to honour.

Even Jesus have to give up his rights to the Father.
if you want to be the head, you got first, to be the lowest of them all…

1st Mission Trip | Myanmar, Kalaymyo

The Team:
img_2016-06-24-152541.jpgimg_2016-06-24-152547.jpg
It was really a privilege to be part of this team! So thankful for leaders like Gwen and Mong, they always without fail point us to God and realign us to the vision. We laughed SO MUCH during the trip. It was such a good balance of fun and work, but most importantly.. we encountered God so much in this trip as a team. 🙂 In this team there’s the veterans.. and there’s also newer people. But we all had one common vision, we just want to do our part to make a difference and to bring God’s love to Myanmar. 🙂  The team really looks out for one another and everyone just want to help in whatever ways they can.. 🙂

I remember at the airport Mong asked me if I’ve travelled before. I said yes, a few times with my family, but as far as i can recall… they weren’t very happy memories haha. That day was actually the first time I felt so excited and happy to be travelling. The company, and the atmosphere are things that I will always remember. Next time when i travel with my family, I will know that it is suppose to be like this.

First Day | Yangon, Destiny Grace Home

“When Pst How built DGH, he makes sure it’s done the best way!”
This was the first thing Pastor Paul told us when the lorry we were on passed by Destiny Grace Home (DGH). 🙂 “In fact, the lorry you are sitting on now is donated by HOGC too!” Evernote Camera Roll 20160527 163439.jpg

When we were there we met  Elizabeth (23), Sabrina (17) and Esther (23). They are the first fruits of Pastor Paul’s ministry. They all grew up in DGH and now they helping to take care of the children in DGH. Elizabeth even has a dream to open an orphanage too. They are mature, humble.. and they have such a pure and gentle spirit… they really love God and the children too! 🙂
Every children here receives education, many grew up and even went on to universities! They have God- they have love, joy and hope. 🙂 Truly, “from your generation onwards, things will be different.”

Second Day | Kalaymyo

We took a domestic flight from Yangon to Kalaymyo on the second day!
And… we met Solomon, he’s very funny haha he tells jokes with a very straight face ._.
Solomon’s dream is to teach the children about the bible and God.

The Work Begins! 🙂
There were so many God moments during the next few days. There were no distractions. Everyday and every night the presence of God was so strong. 🙂 In the room, in the lorry, out there in the villages, or even during dinner.
  • Revelation #1: Different place, but the same heaven and hell.
  • Revelation #2: Gwen shared with me that SP Lia once said that “Every time she loves somebody, it is her service to God.” I knew that every time I clothe a kid, or hand out a sweet, or pray for the sick – it is a service I do to the Lord. It would be the same when I’m back in Singapore too.
  • QT that night:

God’s love has no boundary
Every time we led the village into worship and every time we prayed for the children, the presence of God was be so thick and tangible. I kept tearing and tearing.
As we prayed for both the children and adults, many were touched by the presence of God and many teared. It was impossible for them to be touched by our words because they cannot understand our language.
I saw the power of prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit. It precedes any language and any distance. God’s love knows no boundaries.

During a debrief, Mong shared with us something very powerful that SPs once taught:
What do you need in your ministry with God?
The first time you do it, you need FAITH.
The second time you do it, you need FOCUS.
When you’re doing over and over again, you need FRESHNESS.
Will always remember this as I serve God in my ministry!

Over this trip I felt God really softened my heart again. I think unknowingly I became more inward looking and my heart grew cold… but in this trip I was once again moved with so much compassion for His people.
In the bible,  Jesus was constantly moved with compassion for people..
Not a duty but a desire.
I pray that my ministry will never become a duty – but a desire to serve and love the people that God so loved and died for!
In the times I spent with Gwen alone, I received so much too.
“Ministry does not define your walk with God. You can be very high up but still far from God and Pastors.”
Just want to be close to SPs, to HOGC, to always love God and love His people!

The closest thing to God’s heart is the people.
The outcasted, the broken, the needy. To love God’s heart is to love His people.
When you preach/ when you run the program  there is anointing, stirring in your heart. After the anointing there is the adrenaline, you are very inspired, feel a lot.. and dont want to stop, but this adrenaline will also eventually go. At the end of the day, the last thing that is left is attitude. After the anointing leave and the adrenaline is gone, when we go back to the daily grind, only our attitude is left. We have our attitude, and our character still stands. We’ll go back to Singapore to continue giving our best. 🙂

Quiet Time (1 John, Chapter 1&2)

IMG_2017-01-18 08:17:08.jpg18 Jan 2017 | 7:30am | NTU

God is light, God is love. 🙂 If we walk in the light and understands God’s love.. we’ll be free of self condemnation and experience confidence before God.

Obedience > Sacrifice.

“God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.”

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all our sin.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive..”

“Do not love the world or the the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

“the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you…the same anointing teaches you concerning all things… just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”

“And now little Children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”
